Briefing to Operationalize
Research Security in Nigeria

INTRODUCTION

Over the years, African researchers have become targets for exploitation by both local and foreign malign actors. Stories of hijacked research/ideas, stolen patents and other forms of exploitation abound, mostly without the knowledge of the victims. The African Research Security Consortium (ARSC) is an international organization whose mandate is to promote research security on the African continent through sensitization of stakeholders in higher education institutions and research producing organizations.

On behalf of the U.S. Department of State, CRDF Global and African Research Security Consortium (ARSC) is pleased to host a two-day briefing for stakeholders at University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, and University of Nigeria Nsukka) on topics, themes, and best-practices presented by Sandia National Laboratory (SNL) during the in-person African Research Security Consortium Workshop on August 28-30, 2023, and preceding webinars.

Venue: hybrid, with in-person locations in University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and University of Ibadan (UI).

Early registration is highly encouraged. This workshop is free of charge to participants. All registered participants will be entitled to a briefing brochure, certificate of attendance, coffee break refreshment and lunch for the two days. Upon the conclusion of the registration period, all registrant information will be processed in accordance with compliance requirements. During this review period, registrants should anticipate an email confirmation indicating that their registration information is being reviewed, details regarding the webinar speakers and agenda, and ultimately, the determination of their registration status would be disseminated.
