FIRST Europe Regional Conference
The FIRST Program will host a three-day Europe Regional Conference in Budapest, Hungary, scheduled for September 21–23, 2026, with generous support from Global Affairs Canada.
The event will convene government officials, regulators, and technical experts from across Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe to exchange perspectives and strengthen regional readiness for advanced civil nuclear energy deployments. Conference topics include SMR financing considerations, non-electrical applications, nuclear safety, security and nonproliferation, the role of artificial intelligence, regulatory development, and industry perspectives.
Sessions will be led by international experts from the United States and from selected partner countries. The conference will feature technical presentations, case studies, and moderated panel discussions. Panels will be carefully designed to account for varying levels of technical maturity among participating countries. This conference will be conducted in English.
Through this multi-day conference, the FIRST Program aims to enhance regional technical capacity, strengthen collaboration among partner countries, and support informed national planning for the safe, secure, and economically viable deployment of SMR technologies in Europe.
