STRENGTHENING CHEMICAL SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY
Proliferators states, as well as nonstate actors, have pursued chemicals, chemical procedures, and equipment for the purpose of developing WMD. India has one of the largest chemical sectors in the world, and it remains underregulated, particularly in informal chemical markets like household chemical suppliers. This leaves India susceptible to state and non-state actors seeking to infiltrate supply chains and acquire dual-use chemical materials and equipment for nefarious purposes. Blockchain is an inherently secure technology that can be used to secure supply chains, track sensitive materials, and store relevant data thereby deterring the illicit diversion of chemical materials, hardware, software, and other sensitive equipment.
CRDF Global, therefore, is pleased to host a three-day workshop for 20-30 participants in New Delhi, India, composed of chemical regulators, chemical industry personnel, government officials, and Indian blockchain company personnel. This workshop will provide participants with a basic understanding of blockchain, the blockchain ecosystem, and blockchain use cases, focusing on policy implications of the technology.
As a prerequisite, all potential attendees will be required to complete an asynchronous course that will expand knowledge gains and offer further technical content.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the workshop are to:
- Empower stakeholders in the Indian chemical industry to leverage blockchain technologies
- Ensure that chemicals, equipment, and materials relevant to the production of chemical weapons are not diverted by nefarious state and non-state actors for the development of WMD
WORKSHOP OUTCOMES
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will:
- Have a clear understanding of next steps to implement blockchain to safeguard WMD-related chemical materials
- Be able to identify responsible parties necessary to implement blockchain solutions.
