CRDF Global is pleased to host a two-day, in-person, research security capacity building workshop in Santiago, Chile for academic and research professionals from institutions in Brazil, Chile, and Peru.
As we witness groundbreaking innovations and scientific discoveries taking place at an unprecedented rate, it becomes imperative for research organizations and professionals to proactively address the challenges this may pose. This workshop will explore the current research security landscape across Latin America, the frameworks for identifying dual-use research and potential access points, and the consequences of inaction. As we aim to foster a collaborative environment, participants will have the opportunity to share innovative strategies and leave the workshop with best practices to protect your institution's intellectual assets, frameworks for due diligence and compliance, and the knowledge to fortify the foundations of our research ecosystem.
The workshop will be held free of charge and travel support will be provided for selected participants from Brazil and Peru. As space is limited, early registration is highly encouraged!

Who Should Attend
- Eligible Positions: Administrators, compliance officers, managers, and researchers
- Eligible Institutions: Academic and research institutions that conduct research in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, semiconductor manufacturing, high-performance computing, aircraft and aerospace engineering, and space exploration and rocketry.
- Eligible Countries: Please note that participation in this workshop is only available to citizens of the following countries: Brazil, Chile, and Peru.

Selected participants from Brazil and Peru will qualify for travel support sponsored by CRDF Global which include:

Sapna Marwaha
Sapna founded Formation Consultancy, where she brings together her skills as a solicitor, research and innovation manager, trainer and facilitator to support universities and research organizations to respond more effectively to the challenges of an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
Prior to establishing Formation Consultancy, Sapna gained a decade of experience advising higher education institutions and research funders as an inhouse lawyer on legal and compliance issues. Sapna has led legal teams at the University of Nottingham and research funders, Versus Arthritis and LifeArc. She has led the design and implementation of research due diligence processes as well as systems-based solutions to legal and compliance activity within university and funder environments.
